Interpersonal Skills Development

If you were asked to remember the 1st time you interacted with someone, would you be able to?

Most likely, that’s a no. The reason being that we have been interacting all our lives, i.e., from the time that we are born. We will also continue interacting with people all our lives and hence, to be mindful of these interactions in order to get the best result is of utmost importance.

The interpersonal skills module provides a comprehensive overview of the different types of personality traits that people can have, what are parameters to identify them and how to make the most out of our interaction with them.

The module introduces the usage of various tools that assist us in understanding people and their personalities.

1.  MBTI – It stands for Myers Briggs Type Indicator. This is an inventory which explores 8 personality traits in understanding people. This tool helps us use the Platinum Rule of Communication which talks about treating people the way that they want to be treated, as opposed to the Golden Rule, which talk about treating people the way we want to be treated.

2.  DISC Profiling – DISC stands for Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Compliance. It helps us understand which of these 4 traits we have more of and what that means w.r.t. our behavior during interactions with others.

3.  Johari Window – Johari Window is a tool that provides us a thorough insight into what we know and don’t know about ourselves along with what others know and don’t know about us. Johari Window goes beyond providing an insight and guides us in the direction we should head to take action.

Apart from the mentioned, there are other concepts in the module that provide us with a fresh perspective on how we look and read people, and we interact with them.

The module has a Post Assessment, which helps assess our learning of the concepts.
